solo show: eliza griffiths

My admiration of the work of Eliza Griffiths began thirteen years ago when I came across this Karate Girls series (or was it just the above painting?) at the Enriched Bread Artists showcase in Ottawa. This painting lit me on fire.  Still does. As I did then, I love the opposition in her work: Vulnerable and tough ladies painted in electric Easter egg colours, ambiguity and assurance, melancholy and delight.
